Example-of-Signifier-and-Signified

Semiotics is something that appears everywhere in everyday life, for example the signs on toilet doors to indicate whether it is female or male. The toilet sign has been a generic symbol for many years, this is a sign that everyone knows and will always be easy to identify.

When using semiotics it is to communicate the message properly to the audience. So basically when designing something you need to make sure you use signs and symbols to communicate the message.

In my case I want to use imagery to help communicate the message I want to portray, this means I need imagery that reads right whether it be photography or illustration.
