Zine research; Herbal Remedies/book covers. Time plan.

vocab; magic, herbs, flowers, natural, green, medicine, remedies…

Pictures of plants, flowers, foods, witches cauldron, sun and moon.

Colour palette; a mix of green hues, neutral, earthy.

The first image “The Green Witch” has certain elements that I like, the framing of the typography and the vocab they have used. I just feel like it works well compositionally which I feel can use for developing my own ideas. I think the “boarder” is illustrated but it could be photographs instead.

“The Alchemy Of Herbs” has a photographed front cover, with a straight composition, I feel like this composition works well, it has clear, easy to read text which isn’t too big or over powering the background image. I quite like the colour palette and the photos content, I feel as though this kind of arrangement/ placement could be tried and tested for the final outcome.

“Traditional Western  Herbal Medicine” this cover I adore most just because it reminds me of Halloween. The washed green coloured background works nicely against the dark imagery/text,  but there are only few elements I could be inspired by and that’s the framing of the composition and the colour palette.

“Herbal Medicine Natural remedies” using another photograph, capturing a well thought out image of different medicines and herbs which is framing the typography. I feel like the use this to inspire my own zine layouts. I dont particularly like the chosen background colour, I think the colours look to saturated in areas and the blue background is too intense.

All the above notes/thoughts shows that the framing of the pages is important, especially the front page. The things I need to consider colour, the typography, and layout/composition.
