“A color circle, based on red, yellow and blue, is traditional in the field of art. Sir Isaac Newton developed the first circular diagram of colors in 1666. Since then, scientists and artists have studied and designed numerous variations of this concept. Differences of opinion about the validity of one format over another continue to provoke debate. In reality, any color circle or color wheel which presents a logically arranged sequence of pure hues has merit.”

Colours can mean different things, but each can mean multiple things. The colour red is associated with passion, sexual, bold, powerful and exciting. I relate green to a calm colour, organic, safety and positivity. But green can be portrayed negatively too, in horror movies they tend to use green and purple to indicate a villain or if something bad is going to happen, it all depends on the circumstance.

Using colour theory in logo design, each design has their own style choices for different aims. We’re all familiar with coca cola and its iconic brand colour and design, we are drawn into the colour as it is bold and eye catching. There are many designers that have used colour to show an emotion or an aesthetic. For many people it is just a colour, that they have decided to use but from a artistic approach it shows choice, it shows a design choice. The image above is a great example for choosing the right colour for the product.
